Occasional Offices
The Church walks with you through every season of life. The vicar and parish team are available for the pastoral services below — please contact the church office well in advance so that preparation and booking can be arranged.
Holy Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament of new birth into the family of God. We baptize infants and adults: parents and godparents of infants prepare with the vicar beforehand; adults undertake a course of instruction. Baptisms are celebrated during the Sunday service so the whole congregation can welcome the newly baptized.
Holy Matrimony
Marriage is honoured by God — “signifying unto us the mystical union that is betwixt Christ and his Church.” Couples intending to wed at St. Peter’s meet the vicar for premarital counselling sessions and must give notice (usually at least three months) so banns of marriage may be published on three consecutive Sundays, as required by church and civil law.
Confirmation
Baptized members — especially young people — are prepared in a confirmation class and confirmed by the Bishop on his parish visit, taking adult responsibility for the promises made at baptism and being admitted to Holy Communion.
Christian Burial
When death comes, the Church commends our loved ones to God with the liturgy of the burial office — at church, at home or at the graveside — proclaiming the sure and certain hope of the resurrection. Contact the vicar or church office as soon as a death occurs; the parish will walk with the family through the arrangements.
