"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16
Anglicans believe the Bible to be the Word of God — the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life. The Thirty-Nine Articles teach that “Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation: so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man.” (Article VI)
Scripture at the Centre of Worship
Our services are saturated with the Bible. On a Sunday the congregation hears four appointed readings — Old Testament, Psalm, Epistle and Gospel — following the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle shared with churches around the world. Over three years a worshipper hears nearly the whole of Scripture read aloud in church.
Reading It Together
- Wednesday Bible Study & Prayers — 5:30 pm, open to all.
- Sunday School — Scripture taught to our children every week.
- Sermons — preaching rooted in the day’s readings.
- Daily readings — on this site, a verse, a passage and a collect each day.
“Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them.” — the Collect for the Word.
