Welcome to St. Peter’s ACK Nkoroi
St. Peter’s is an Anglican parish in Nkoroi, Ongata Rongai — Kajiado North, Kajiado County — a worshipping community of families, young people and children gathered around Word and Sacrament. We are a parish of the Ongata Rongai Archdeaconry in the Diocese of Kajiado, part of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) — a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Our worship is rooted in Scripture and shaped by the Prayer Book tradition — Our Modern Services (Ibada Yetu), the liturgy of the Anglican Church of Kenya. Whether you are a lifelong Anglican, returning to church after many years, or exploring faith for the first time, you will find a home at St. Peter’s.
The Anglican Church in Kenya
Anglican Christianity reached Kenya in 1844, when the Church Missionary Society sent Dr. Johann Ludwig Krapf to the coast — establishing the mission at Rabai, near Mombasa. From those beginnings the church grew into the Church of the Province of Kenya (CPK), which became an independent province of the Anglican Communion in 1970 and was renamed the Anglican Church of Kenya in 1998.
Today the ACK numbers around five million members in more than forty dioceses, led by The Most Rev. Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, Archbishop and Primate of Kenya, whose see is All Saints’ Cathedral, Nairobi.
Our Diocese — Kajiado
The Diocese of Kajiado was inaugurated in 1993, carved out of the Diocese of Nairobi after the rapid growth of the church in Maasailand. Its first bishop, the Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Taama, was consecrated in 1997; the current bishop, The Rt. Rev. Gadiel Katanga Lenini, was consecrated and enthroned on 15 January 2012. The diocese is organized into archdeaconries — including our own Ongata Rongai Archdeaconry.
